The Field Guide is divided into three sections.
- The first explores the process of taking students from initial investigations, preliminary research, interviews, formal research, drafting and production. As teachers we were excited to share our learning with others through the NCSS Conference 2017 Live Learning Center. Learn about the process of teaching students how to conduct original oral history interviews, find primary sources, and present their research in a variety of written and visual formats.
- The second models a series of instructional posts for students using KidBlog as a space where students and teachers can reflect on progress and concerns throughout the process.
- The third guide provides a brief outline for those who might want to explore building an archive or online publication using Omeka or Scalar.
